3. The views of the child and a child’s privacy must be respected.
4. Clear expectations for appropriate behavior with children are established in our Child Safety Code of Conduct and Staff and Student Professional Boundaries Policy.
5. The safety of children is dependent upon the existence of a child safe culture.
6. Child safety awareness is promoted and openly discussed within FODA and the community (ies) we serve.
7. Procedures are in place to screen all staff, Direct Contact Volunteers*, third party contractors and external education providers who have direct contact with children.
8. Child safety and protection is everyone's responsibility.
9. Child protection training is mandatory for all staff members, academic fellows, coaching staff and direct contact volunteers.
10. Procedures for responding to alleged or suspected incidents of child abuse are simple and accessible for all members affiliated, associated, participating within FODA.
11. Children from underrepresented, culturally, or socially diverse backgrounds have the right to special care and support including those who identify as LGBTQ and/or Transgender.
12. Children who have any kind of disability have the right to special care and support.
* Direct Contact Volunteers are those volunteers that are involved in providing support, guidance, and supervision directly to students and could potentially have direct contact with students during the normal course of providing the volunteer service.
Innovators and Inventors is our after-school enrichment program that incorporates various engaging STEAM programs, such as First Lego Robotics, Video Gaming, and Battlebots. This program will offer a unique experience where curiosity, experimentation, and risk-taking is encouraged! Students will engage in various hands-on STEM activities from 3D modeling, architectural design, aeronautics and robotics, marine biology to film making. We present and allow the students to “live” the science and math concepts and see their relevance in real-world applications. We also believe there is an inherent value for students to develop his/her interpersonal skills. So, they will also engage in activities such as public speaking, creative writing, and digital art. We know how to strike just the right balance between structure and fun!
RMOD Derby's Education Program uses the tools and values of Soap Box Derby® racing to introduce Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) to students in an enjoyable, engaging way. The Education Program is designed to provide 4th -12th educators and students with project- and standards-based, inter-curricular learning opportunities. Through our Ready-Set-Go Achievement Program, each student will be assigned to team who will assemble soap box derby car kits; and then race against other teams within the Westside Sports League, and other local rally races in hopes of being crowned RMOD Champion!
The objective is to educate, expose, and endow these students to the sport of auto racing; and how to apply the principles of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM).
Our Flying High with Creativity, and Exploration curriculum is presented in a unique platform where our students are instilled with a strong sense of curiosity, confidence, and teamwork. Students explore, learn, and evolve along with the applications of today and the discoveries of tomorrow. We understand that the technological landscape is constantly evolving, and our curriculum is specifically designed to introduce 21st century STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills in and out of the classroom! We provide the perfect educational platform for our students to become familiar with and learn the many facets of drones, robotics, source coding and how it applies to real life opportunities. Students learn Blockly, Python, Open-CV, Node.js, and JavaScript by coding autonomous missions in the classroom using the Tello drone, Go1 Quadruped Robot, and databots!
The field of robotics is driving new technology and changing the way we live, work and play! Mechanization of everything from self-driving cars to creation of new energy sources can all trace their origins in robotics and mechanical engineering.
Imagine a day camp that is designed to offer students an opportunity to learn and explore their mechanical minds by allowing them to imagine, design, and create robots that will uniquely address today’s scientific and technological innovations...through different experiments and projects like Video Game Creation, Robotics, Veterinary Medicine, Crime Scene Investigation, Culinary Science, Paleontology, Engineering, Space, Biology, Chemistry, Oceanography, LEGO Robotics and much more.
Students will engage in hands-on experiences that stimulate communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Our instructors introduce various forms, concepts, and theories by incorporating technology, field experiments, classroom lectures, and interactive team building projects.
Every camper will get a taste of different engineering fields including civil, computer, mechanical, robotics and electrical. Many projects will mentally and physically engage the campers to complete activities and projects as small groups, where no prior knowledge is necessary but advanced learning and critical thinking skills are developed. Activities will be tailored to individual camper needs, and how he/she can contribute to their small group.
Our goal is to present an exploratory learning session where every camper develops and enhances his or her critical and analytical thinking skills. We want to develop the next generation of scientists, engineers, inventors, and leaders from our community.
